The Orlando Magic have plenty of options with the no. 1 pick of the 2022 NBA Draft, with the likes of Chet Holmgren, Jabari Smith and Paolo Banchero all having solid arguments for the top selection. However, according to the latest reports, Orlando has already one player in mind they want to draft.

As reported by John Hollinger and Sam Vecenie of The Athletic, the Magic could favor Holmgren at no.1 given their penchant to taking players with length.

Orlando winning the lottery could throw a monkey wrench on draft night. While most draft analysts have Jabari Smith Jr. rated as the top prospect, John Hollinger Spies think the Magic are leaning toward selecting Chet Holmgren. Of course, that would play to their type. This front office’s track record reveals an obsession with length, so one can easily connect the dots there.

Considering Orlando's frontcourt logjam with the likes of Wendell Carter Jr., Mo Bamba, Bol Bol, Moe Wagner and Robin Lopez, fans and experts alike had some belief that the team won't be adding another big man. After all, should they get another center, they are more likely to part ways with some of their current big men.

Nonetheless, it might be a problem the Magic are willing to handle if they believe they can get a game-changing center. Chet Holmgren has been the no. 1 player in the class for so long, and his unique combination of size, skill and shooting makes him an intriguing prospect.

He has shown flashes of his pro potential during his brief stint in Gonzaga, and no one can blame the Magic if they really pick him. But still, it is a must-watch which name they'll call come the June rookie selection.
