Like several other teams in the NBA, the Orlando Magic are in the midst of a rebuild. They've built their roster in recent drafts and essentially cleaned house last season at the deadline when they moved Aaron Gordon, Evan Fournier, and Nikola Vucevic.

One of the only players left on the roster who is actually a veteran is Terrence Ross, who the Magic are reportedly trying to acquire draft capital for. Via Shams Charania:

The Magic have sought draft capital — such as a first-round pick — in talks for veteran swingman Terrence Ross, sources said. Ross is averaging 10.8 points this season. He scored 22 points on Saturday at the Clippers.

Although Ross is a nice piece off the bench for Orlando, he and Robin Lopez are about the only guys on the squad who are over 30-years-old. In 27 games this season, Ross is averaging 10.8 points on 40% shooting from the field.

The Magic's young core is certainly promising, with second-year guard Cole Anthony currently leading the way with an impressive 20.5 points per contest. Rookie Franz Wagner is also showing out, while Jalen Suggs was playing well before suffering an injury.

With the direction Orlando is heading in, it would only make sense for them to trade Ross. They want to keep rebuilding via the draft and another pick or two for 2022 would undoubtedly be seen as a positive in this long-term plan to get the Magic back to relevance in the East.
