The Orlando Magic are trying to dangle Aaron Gordon in an effort to move up in the 2020 NBA Draft, per Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer.

O'Connor reported the Magic are hoping to package Gordon and the No. 15 pick in order to shoot up the board:

League sources say the Magic are attempting to move up into the lottery by packaging this pick with Aaron Gordon.

O'Connor goes on to suggest the Magic could draft Kentucky shooting guard Tyrese Maxey in the event they stay put at No. 15.

Gordon has been a bit of a confounding talent throughout his career.

The former Arizona star routinely dazzles with his athleticism, but has yet to really assert himself as a perimeter threat. Gordon shot just 30.8 percent from beyond the arc last year, and his 48.4 effective field goal percentage was the worst mark in that category since his rookie season.

Orlando has a nice trove of frontcourt assets, though the Magic lost Jonathan Isaac for the 2020-21 season after he suffered a devastating injury during the NBA restart.

Still, the Magic seem intent to capitalize on Gordon's value—whatever that may be—given he still has two years remaining on his current contract.

It remains to be seen how high up the board Orlando can go with this kind of package. Many of the teams who might be open to trading back are also likely to explore possibly trading up. There is no real clarity as to how teams will proceed, starting with the Minnesota Timberwolves as the No. 1 spot.

Regardless, the Magic apparently prefer draft value going forward, and might just have a player in mind as they look to move up.
