After a three-interception performance against one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL, it's clear that Kyle Allen isn't the future for the Carolina Panthers. Allen is an adequate backup who can win you a few games but as a whole, the best option available to them in 2020 is going back to Cam Newton.

There have been rumors regarding the possibility of the Panthers potentially being interested in trying to trade the former NFL MVP. From a cap space perspective, it makes sense since Newton is set to make $18.6 million next year, but he is also going to be in the final season of his contract. With a full offseason to recover, there's a chance he could return to being one of the better QBs in the NFL.

Injuries have certainly been an issue for Newton in recent years and while he likely won't ever return to his 2015 MVP form, there's plenty of reason to believe he could at least return to being a top 10 quarterback, though. From his performances in the first two weeks of this season, it was clear that Newton wasn't 100 percent healthy, so making a basis off that is unfair.

With the Panthers shutting Newton down earlier this season and allowing him to get surgery on his injured foot, they have seen that Allen is not the long-term answer. Third-string quarterback Will Grier has been unimpressive in his rookie season as well. Ultimately, it's likely worth the time to wait for a full recovery from Newton to see what he can bring to the table.

Key players like Luke Kuechly and Christian McCaffrey aren't going to get younger. If the Panthers decide to move on from Newton through the draft, it may not be worth wasting the prime of other stars while you wait for a young QB to develop with the possibility of it not panning out.

As long as they can confirm his health, the Panthers should run it back with Newton at the helm in 2020. A new head coach could represent a fresh start for the former Auburn star. It only helps that the team's offensive weapons have developed nicely in the last few seasons.

McCaffrey is arguably the best running back in the NFL and DJ Moore and Curtis Samuel are becoming a formidable duo at receiver. The team still needs help on the offensive line and at the defensive back spot, but the team at least can be a consistent playoff team for the next few seasons.
