Jack Grealish hasn't exactly enjoyed life at Man City since joining from Aston Villa on a big-money move in the summer. Big things were expected from the Englishman after shining with his boyhood club, but it hasn't exactly worked out that way.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Grealish opened up on his struggles at the Etihad following such an impressive campaign with the Lions in 2020/21 where he bagged six goals and set up another 12.

“I just felt like when I came here from Villa I looked at my goals and assists from last season.

“So I obviously thought going to Man City, the best club in England, the best players, I'm going to go there and get 20 or 30 goal involvements but it ain't been the case at all – I've actually struggled with my goals and assists.

“Especially the price tag on my head, as soon as you don't get them goals and assists for a while people start talking and doubting you then.

“That's where you need to trust in my own ability and take it from there.”

The 26-year-old has made 12 Premier League starts for Pep Guardiola's side, but he's only managed to score two goals and supply another two assists. As he said, there is so much quality within this Man City team that it's been difficult to be the main focal point of the attack like he was at Villa.

Grealish was always the main man up top for them, creating goals, scoring, making pivotal passes, and essentially serving as their most important player. At City, the likes of Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne, and others, are all integral pieces to the puzzle.

After all, Man City paid €118 million for the attacking midfielder, which means there are undoubtedly lots of expectations. While he hasn't quite lived up to them yet, it's clear Grealish still has confidence. Tuesday's 7-0 dismantling of Leeds was a step in the right direction for him, smashing home a header as he played the full 90 minutes. Hopefully, better form is yet to come for Jack Grealish.
