Raphael Varane was officially unveiled as a Man United player as he appeared at Old Trafford prior to the Red Devils’ 5-1 thrashing of Leeds United. The former Real Madrid man secured a €41 million move from La Liga on July 27th, but it wasn’t announced until Saturday.

The Frenchman took to Twitter shortly after to react to finally signing with the English giants:

Varane walked out of the Man United tunnel to thousands of screaming Red Devils fans that were absolutely buzzing about him joining their club. The excitement of a center-back pairing of Harry Maguire and Varane is scary in itself and should help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad be one of the strongest defensive sides in the top flight.

Man United put on a clinic for their supporters, embarrassing Leeds. Bruno Fernandes bagged a hat-trick for the hosts, while Paul Pogba supplied four assists. Jadon Sancho also made his Red Devils debut, playing the final 15 minutes of the second half.

The reinforcements that United has brought in this summer will surely help them be a serious contender for the title after finishing in second place last term to Man City.

Man United is off to a smashing start and should have Raphael Varane available in no time as they look to build off a massive result when they clash with Southampton next Sunday at St. Mary’s.
