Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has come clean with how Lionel Messi and Paris Saint-Germain did a better job on their UEFA Champions League match.

PSG stunned Manchester City on Tuesday and walk away with a 2-0 win to top their UEFA Champions League group.

Sharing his thoughts after the game, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admitted that his team just can’t figure out how to stop his former Barcelona ace Lionel Messi, who scored PSG’s second and final goal to seal the victory.

“We dealt with PSG first of all, but we know it's impossible to control Leo [Messi] for 90 minutes,” Guardiola told Sky Sports.

“[Messi] He was not much in touch with the ball – of course he was coming back from injury, he needed a bit of rhythm – but we know quite well when he can run and get close to the ball, he is unstoppable,” he continued.

Manchester City came in as heavily favored over PSG, having competed for the UEFA Champions League title against Chelsea in the previous tournament.

However, the Citizens failed to notch a single goal the entire 90 minutes of pitch action, something Guardiola was not too happy about.

“What we have done is minimize, as much as possible, these kind of options and create the chances that we could create and I'm satisfied with the way we played,” the manager reflected.

“We did a really good game, but we should have scored goals and we didn't do it. That's why we lost,” he added.
