Manchester United is edging closer to a deal for their top signing of the summer, Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jadon Sancho. The two clubs have agreed on an initial fee of £60m, though talks regarding the deal are still between their respective intermediaries and there are no formal negotiations between the clubs yet, according to The Independent.

Dortmund will take the initial £60m payment for the coveted transfer, a package that's expected to grow beyond £100m, though there's still some work to be done polishing the specifics of the deal.

The German club does not want a saga to come out of this deal, prepared and willing to sell and even going as far as pushing for the deal to happen as they have planned for Sancho’s departure for a while now.

The hope is that Dortmund will be able to keep the would-be 2020-21 squad intact by the time the club returns to training on August 10.

If Borussia Dortmund is hoping to make this transaction smooth, some concessions are to be expected to keep negotiations from dragging on. Other clubs like Real Madrid and Liverpool showed interest in Jadon Sancho in the past, but United has put all its chips into closing the deal, making them the undisputed frontrunner to land the talented midfielder.

Manchester United is also looking at other positions like center forward, another midfielder to boost their depth and potentially a defensive midfielder if funds permit. The English international went off for 20 goals and 20 assists in all competitions, hence the ironclad interest in his services.
