Manchester United marksman Cristiano Ronaldo is being criticized for his apparent goal-hungry mentality.

Former Ajax and the Netherlands national side manager Danny Blind didn’t hold back in expressing his real thoughts on Cristiano Ronaldo’s performances for Manchester United.

Unlike other soccer personalities who view Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United as sterling, Blind stressed that with the Portuguese striker not taking a step back, troubles with efficiency in attack is starting to surface.

“Ronaldo doesn’t really need to play an active role,” Blind told Sportnieuws after Manchester United’s 1-1 draw against Everton. “Like, ‘take your time.’ You also see the other players looking at you like, ‘how are we going to solve it then?’.”

Blind went on to explain that Ronaldo has been causing “a lot of miscommunication” on the pitch as his head is only after scoring goals.

“Normally, the striker runs from one central defender to the other,” he explained. “This caused a lot of miscommunication. Now, they are not playing in their familiar pattern. When the ball was deflected, you saw Paul Pogba coaching that they had to put all the pressure on. Ronaldo did not do that; he is not like that. He only thinks about goals and hopes others will conquer the ball.”

In the Everton match, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer dropped Ronaldo from his starting XI. This has opened up an opportunity for other strikers such as Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani to step up.

However, only Martial managed to score and some believe that the outcome wouldn have been different if Ronaldo had started.
