Manchester United's star signing Jadon Sancho finally scored his first goal since arriving at Old Trafford.

Despite not finding success in the English Premier League, Manchester United bounced back in the UEFA Champions League with a stunning 2-0 win over La Liga side Villarreal.

It was ultimately a close match with Manchester United even trailing by 4% in possessions. However, Cristiano Ronaldo lifted the Red Devils up by hitting the back of the net on the 78th minute.

Jadon Sancho then put the final nail in the coffin with a late goal in the closing minutes of the game, his first goal since becoming a Manchester United player.

Manchester United caretaker manager Michael Carrick was pleased to have won his first match and also heaped praise on Sancho.

“I said to the players it’s not been an easy couple of days for everyone at the club,” Carrick said postgame via NBC Sports. “I can enjoy it so much but that result feels like it’s for Ole and I can’t get away from that. We had a job to do and when I was there and things needed to be taken care of I was happy to do it and thankfully it all want to plan at the end.”

“To finish it off, Jadon [Sancho] was brilliant,” he added. “I know how much Jadon loves the ball at his feet and trying to make things happen, it’s where he’s happiest. But on the other side of the game, he put a real effort in defense and it was a big night for him.”

Manchester United will be hoping to keep the momentum going when the club faces Chelsea this weekend.
