Manchester United nabbed their main man this summer after agreeing to a deal with Borussia Dortmund starlet Jadon Sancho. While the club hasn't officially announced the signing yet at Old Trafford, there are still lots of pundits and people around football giving their opinion on the signing.

Club legend Wayne Rooney, who now occupies the dugout at Derby County, took on his ex-team in a friendly which ended in a 2-1 defeat. After the fixture, Rooney offered his take on Sancho joining Manchester United, via Goal's Chris Burton:

“He scores goals, creates goals, so I think it's a very good signing.”

“I think there will be a lot of pressure, which there should be with Manchester United.

“Sancho coming in, they are rumoured to be in for a few more players.

“They are in a period now where the fans will be wanting success, silverware, and Ole and his coaching staff will be under pressure to deliver that.”

There will undoubtedly be lots of pressure on Sancho and the Red Devils. Their summer spending spree is far from over though, with Raphael Varane close to joining Manchester United as well from Real Madrid.

Sancho proved to be one of the most versatile young attackers on the globe during his time in the Bundesliga as he consistently scored and provided goals. This addition to an already dangerous United frontline will be a thrill to watch as Manchester United eye a Premier League title after finishing as runners-up to Man City last term. As far as Rooney is concerned, the Red Devils will be right in that conversation.

“I think they will be in a place where they really will challenge next season.”

Well, time shall tell. Manchester United kicks off the 2021/22 campaign on August 14th as they lock horns with Leeds United at Old Trafford.
