Marc Gasol is one of the best players in the history of the Memphis Grizzlies. The Spanish center is entering his 10th season in Tennessee, during which he established himself as one of the best centers in the league. He is a three-time All-Star, two-time All-NBA and a 2012-13 Defensive Player of the Year. Even though he is a real Memphis legend, Gasol is an even bigger legend in Spain.

Gasol, along with his brother Pau Gasol, never missed a chance to play for his national team. One such chance came this summer, as Spain is playing in Eurobasket 2017. Speaking to Manu Carreno from Cardena Ser, he praised relationships between players in the Spanish team. However, he also critiqued the atmosphere in Memphis.

“We suffer more as a spectator than as a player,” said Gasol. “We're a family, it's a reality. We overcome the bad moments, we have mentors and leaders, such as Pau (Gasol) and (Juan Carlos) Navarro who are also there to give pause and tranquility. The atmosphere is very different from Memphis. I hope we can win a ring, we have to be very consistent and disciplined.”

Gasol is reportedly unhappy with the Grizzlies in general. The team seems to be in a rough situation, with their salary cap filled up and no realistic chance of seriously challenging the Golden State Warriors or other Western conference top teams.

Gasol can opt out of his contract in two summers, but he might ask for a trade if the downfall of the Tennessee-based team continues.
