Marc Gasol posted career-best nightly averages in the scoring and assist column this season, while taking his Grizzlies to the seventh seed in the brutal Western Conference.

But if you ask him, the personal accolades and statistics mean absolutely nothing. Gasol spoke to AS Espana, noting that he only worries about the win/loss figures.

“We've won 43 games, that is the only thing that matters. The statistics are fine but what matters are the victories and defeats, the stats are killing basketball. This is a very subjective game, a lot of things happen that cant be measured with stats. Very different details matter. As I see basketball, the most important things do not appear in the statistics”.

When you play alongside long-time NBA defensive specialist, Tony Allen, you would think this way. The Grizzlies have been a grind 'em out, gritty team for as long as memory serves, with many of those game-winning factors unmeasurable, much to Gasol's point.

This just optimizes the way the Grizzlies' go about their basketball. It's not pretty, but they get it done in their own way, doing whatever they have to do for the name on the front of the jersey rather than the one on the back.
