Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart will miss a couple of weeks after a left ankle sprain suffered during Wednesday night's 121-96 loss to the New York Knicks, according to a league source.

Smart suffered the injury by landing on Justin Holiday‘s foot with 48 seconds to go in the first half. He limped out of the court with the help of teammates Avery Bradley and Jae Crowder.

The 6-foot-4 guard has been taping his ankle ever since his recurring ankle injuries dating back to his rookie season in 2014-15.

He has not shot the ball well this preseason but his impact will go beyond the offensive end, as he averaged 1.5 steals last season coming off the bench.

Marcus Smart finished with six points and two assists during his 16 minutes on the floor.
