The Seattle Mariners are prepared to do whatever it takes to sign a free agent slugger. Kris Bryant might just be the answer in Seattle.

The Bryant-Mariners rumors have been swirling ever since KB hit the open market following the conclusion of the 2021 season. However, a return to Chicago has also not been ruled out. Other organizations that have been linked to Bryant include the Phillies, Giants, and Mets.

The Mariners have been searching for a true franchise star. Their last big name superstar player came in the form of Felix Hernandez. The team attempted to make a splash in the trade market a few seasons ago when they signed star second baseman Robinson Cano, but Cano failed to provide the team with longevity. To make matters worse, the Mariners are the owners of baseball's longest active playoff drought, as they have not seen postseason action since 2001.

They came close to sneaking into the Wild Card game in 2021 but fell just a few games short. But the fact is that the Mariners are a few pieces away from becoming legitimate contenders, especially since the Astros are not as strong as they once were. The NL West is up for grabs and now is the time to strike.

With all of this being said, it is no wonder why the team has expressed interest in pursuing Bryant. He is a proven winner who led the Cubs to their first World Series championship since 1908 back in 2016. Bryant is a popular option on the free agent market and has plenty of teams he could sign with. However, he may welcome the opportunity to become a franchise star once again and help another team break their own drought.
