For the first time since 2001, the Seattle Mariners will be hosting the MLB All-Star Game. The festivities will take place in the summer of 2023 at T-Mobile Park.

Per Jeff Passan of ESPN, MLB already had two future games booked and now the Mariners and T-Mobile Park have been added to that list.

MLB had two future All-Star sites on the books already: Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles next year, and Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia during the 2026 season. The league moved the 2021 All-Star Game from Atlanta to Denver following Georgia's adoption of new voting laws.

It's odd how these aren't cemented in place in order but now the 2022, 2023 and 2026 MLB All-Star Games have a home.

As for the present, the Mariners are right in the thick of a crazy American League wild card race. Seattle is currently two games back of both the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees for the final spot in the AL.

What's most crazy is that the last time the Mariners hosted an all-star game was in 2001 and that was also the last time they made the playoffs. It's been 20 years since Seattle last punched a ticket and they are right in the mix this year in the final couple weeks of the season.

While everyone is keeping focused on the Yankees, Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays, the Mariners just keep hanging around.

If they come up short, they'll still get to hang their hats on hosting the 2023 MLB All-Star Game.
