As the Dallas Mavericks continue their rebuild towards becoming a perennial title contender once again, team owner Mark Cuban couldn’t help but feel that they are in the wrong conference, making the process longer for them.

He was asked by ESPN during Sunday's Summer League game what his plans are for the franchise in the coming years. He then took at shot at the Eastern Conference, making it known that they would’ve had a different approach if they weren't in the West.

“We're rebuilding, and there's no question about it. If we were in the East, we would not be rebuilding. We'd be handling things completely different.”

“I think I'm going to kidnap Adam Silver and not let him out until he moves us to the Eastern Conference. Given where we are, given where the Warriors are, and what's happening in the Western Conference, it kind of sealed what we have to do.”

With the number of stars deciding to play for teams in the West, it leaves the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics as the heavy favorites to move on to the conference finals. There are also a number of teams expected to compete for a playoff spot in the East, but are projected to have losing records this coming season.

Cuban has not been shy to speak about the competitive imbalance in the league today. In an age where super teams are needed to be formed to win championships, the Mavericks are still far from being considered one.

They also might need to rely on some of their young guns to mature quickly, and add veterans to speed up the process. Right now, the team looks like they are once again headed to the lottery, unless Cuban will be able to pull off some trades within the season to bring a star or two to their fold.
