During the offseason, basketball fans have to find all the small things to keep themselves from being bored to death, even if it means reading into social media posts by various celebrities.

Fans of pop-punk band Blink 182 are used to Mark Hoppus writing bass-lines, not driving the baseline with reckless abandon.

According to the rock star’s Instagram page, Hoppus will be signing a six-year contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder, filling the void left by Kevin Durant. He uploaded a photo of his name and the number 182 on an OKC jersey:

Proud to announce I've signed a six-year deal starting for the @okcthunder. ????

Now, of course the post is a joke; player numbers don’t go above ninety-nine! That's the only issue here, right?

Blink 182 will be playing at the Thunder’s home, the Chesapeake Energy Arena, on Thursday and Hoppus is seemingly getting into the spirit of all things OKC ahead of the rock show.

It is yet to be officially confirmed if Hoppus has any basketball ability but we are sure that he could provide some sort of morale boost, due to the band’s off-beat sense of humor.

The band’s latest album, ‘California’, became their second number one album upon release this month. They are currently supporting the album with a nationwide tour; it is their first tour without long-term lead singer Tom Delonge.
