The Orlando Magic have worked this offseason to add several veteran pieces to their roster.

According to Jeff Zillgett of USA TODAY Sports, the Magic have inked veteran big man Marreese Speights to a one-year deal.

This comes several hours after it was reported that the Magic have initiated conversations with Speights. He had previously been in discussions with the Atlanta Hawks, but talks broke down between both sides with the team pulling their offer.

Speights is coming off a productive campaign with the L.A. Clippers where he averaged 8.7 points on 44.5 percent shooting from the field and 37.2 percent from beyond the arc with 4.5 rebounds in 15.7 minutes while playing in all 82 games. Prior to that, he spent three years with the Golden State Warriors, where he won an NBA title.

His addition brings more depth to the front court while leadership in the locker room to help mentor their young core, in particular, Aaron Gordon, Nik Vucevic, and rookie Jonathan Isaac. He has developed into a reliable option off the bench that could help spread the floor with his outside shooting touch.

Speights is the latest veteran addition to the Magic's roster via free agency that includes veteran point guard Shelvin Mack and forward Jonathon Simmons.
