After much hubbub leading into 2022 Masters week, Tiger Woods announced Tuesday morning his intention to play in the major at Augusta National.

Tiger has been working hard to be ready for these Masters, but it still wasn't clear if he was going to be able to give it a go after his devastating car accident in February 2021. Earlier this year, he was worried about being able to walk the course. But there were recent signs that he was ramping up to indeed participate, and now he's feeling confident enough to do so after some practice rounds.

The legendary golfer hasn't played in a competitive tournament against the world's best since the end of 2020. Tiger participated in the PNC Championship with his son this past December, but that was a special event. Walking Augusta and playing in the Masters in a whole different animal.

It's truly a miracle that Tiger is going to try to play after that accident. Woods suffered gruesome injuries that could have ended his career, but he was determined to get back out on the course to keep going. And now that he's going to participate in the Masters, of course he thinks he has a a chance to win for a sixth time:

It's going to be bedlam at Augusta National this week with Tiger Woods playing. No matter how he performs, it's a testament to his greatness and hard work that he's even going to be out there. We'll see if he can shock the world and contend.
