Putting is never easy on the greens at Augusta National Golf Club. That said, it's recommended to not break your putter while you're trying to hang around the top of the Masters leaderboard. Alas, that's exactly what Si-Woo Kim did on the 14th hole of his second round on Friday.

Kim, who was five-under par at the moment and tied for third, recorded his first bogey of the afternoon after a disappointing three-putt. Kim decided to take his frustration out on his putter, smashing the head into the hallowed grounds at Augusta and permanently wrecking the club.

For the rest of the round, the South Korean used a 3-wood to navigate the tricky greens. He parred his last four holes, including an impressive two-putt on 17.

Overall, the no. 49-ranked player in the world shot a three-under 33 on the front-nine and a 36 on the back for a solid three-under 69 on the day at the Masters. He entered the clubhouse in a tie for seventh place — and in need of a new putter, assuming he wants to use one this weekend.

Justin Rose (-7) leads the Masters after two days, followed by Brian Harman (-6) and Will Zalatoris (-6).

The 25-year old Kim is searching for his first career major victory. At 21 in 2017, Kim became the youngest ever winner first winner of the Players Championship. Since then, his lone title on the PGA Tour came this past January, at The American Express in La Quinta, California.

Kim may not be Happy Gilmore, but it was a surprisingly emotive moment for one of the contenders during the Masters at Augusta.
