Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy made a crucial substitution in the middle of their Week 3 encounter against the Atlanta Falcons as he called veteran quarterback Nick Foles to replace starter Mitchell Trubisky. The gamble paid off as the Bears successfully mounted their comeback en route to a tight 30-26 win.

Nagy sounded off on his mid-game decision to change his playmaker on the field:

“Sometime, you have to go with your gut,” he said, explaining that the decision came in the moment, based on the fact that the offense under Trubisky was struggling on third down and in the red zone. “It’s a feel you get as things go on.”

As for who the Bears QB's going to be moving forward, Matt Nagy had this to say:

“We’ve just got to make a good decision,” he added, emphasizing that “you have to take emotion out of [it].”

“If it’s Mitch, you roll,” “If it’s Nick, you roll. I don’t want it to be back and forth.”

From the coach's words and his actions last game, it seemed like the call might lean towards going with Nick Foles, and sure enough, Foles was named the starter moving forward on Monday.

Foles led Chicago's late rally and finished the game with a total of 188 receiving yards on a 16-of-29 clip along with three passing touchdowns and an interception. On the other hand, Trubisky recorded 128 receiving yards on 13-of-22 passes completed and a passing touchdown and an interception.

Another letdown for the Falcons gave the Bears a victory to stretch their win streak to three games. Nagy will have to make the necessary adjustments as they go up against a capable opponent in the Indianapolis Colts on October 4, even with Foles under center.
