The Detroit Lions suffered another disappointing defeat on Sunday, falling to the New Orleans Saints 35-29. To say that the Lions have had a rough start to the campaign would probably be an understatement at this point. As a result, head coach Matt Patricia's job security might just be on the fence.

Following Detroit's loss to the Saints, Patricia was asked straight up if he believed that he was the right man at the helm for the Lions. Unsurprisingly, the 46-year-old coach did not have a direct answer for the loaded question:

“That’s a hard question,” Paticia said, via Brad Galli of WXYZ (h/t Josh Alper of NBC Sports). “We just lost to the Saints. Let’s just give them credit for this game, they played extremely well and I know we got a lot of work to do. I think when I came to Detroit, there was a lot of work to do and that’s what we’re trying to do. But, talking about this year, we’re talking about right now, these first four games and obviously today wasn’t good enough.”

The Lions are now 1-3 to start the 2020-21 season. To make matters worse, Detroit has given up double-digit leads in all three losses. Clearly, Patricia and his men have had trouble holding on to leads this season. The fact that the Lions were also reportedly up until 3 a.m. on Sunday awaiting word if they were able to be allowed to take the field — which explains their sluggish start — did not help their case.

The Lions get a bye week this weekend, before facing off against the Jacksonville Jaguars next Sunday. Needless to say, that's going to be a very important game for Patricia and his embattled squad.
