The Matt Ryan era in Atlanta may be coming to an end. The Atlanta Falcons are positioned in a prime situation with the fourth pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and all signs point to them cashing it in on their next passer.

Trevor Sikkema and Ben Solak, the hosts of the daily Locked On NFL Draft podcast, discussed at length the top 10 and how the quarterbacks could go off the board this April. They also narrowed in on why the Falcons could pull the trigger on their next guy as they look to transition away from Matt Ryan:

Sikkema: That’s why when you said at the beginning of the podcast that this draft could get really really entertaining and that there will be a lot to talk about, this is what you mean. Jacksonville is going quarterback. The Jets are probably going quarterback. Miami is probably trading that pick for someone to potentially come up and get a quarterback. Then you have Atlanta, Philadelphia, Detroit, Carolina, and Denver without even getting out of the top 10 of teams that could go pick a quarterback and there may be only one left at that point. I think that Atlanta is going to really think about getting a quarterback, especially because they are going to have a new regime coming in, both general manager and head coach. They are going to want to go groom their guy and see this as a situation where they have Matt Ryan, he is good, so they do not have to play the rookie right away. I think it is almost a perfect situation. I think that Atlanta should go pick a quarterback.
