The Dallas Mavericks have arisen as one of the top suitors for New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday this upcoming offseason, according to ESPN's Ian Begley.

Having shipped former starter Deron Williams and given D-Leaguer Yogi Ferrell the starting nod during the remainder of the season, the Mavs will be on the hunt (and aggressively so) for a quality point guard. Holiday unsurprisingly fits that bill.

The Pelicans can still offer the L.A. native more money than anyone else in the league and have intended to keep him all along.

Another team interested are the New York Knicks, who have people within the organization that are avid fans of the 26-year-old point guard. According to Begley, the Knicks are unlikely to make a run for him despite the interest, as they would be unable to give Holiday the salary and length of contract he desires at this point in his career.

The UCLA product posted yet another solid year, averaging 15.4 points, 7.3 assists, and 1.5 steals despite missing the first month of the season tending to his ill wife and newborn child.

Jrue Holiday shot a career-high 45.4 percent from the field and 0.7 blocks per game (not bad for a point guard) through 67 games and 61 starts in 2016-17.
