Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was fined $500,000 by the NBA on Friday following incendiary remarks thrown at the league's officials in the aftermath of a loss to the Atlanta Hawks. On the same day ,the NBA announced Cuban's protest for the Hawks loss was dismissed.

Cuban, a wealthy software investor and business who purchased the Mavericks in Jan. 2000, has had a long history of fines issue by the league office. With the most recent one coming in at $500,000. Cuban told Dallas Morning News reporter Callie Caplan “No comment” on Friday evening in response to the protest being thrown out along with the team owner's lucrative fine.

“Hopefully they’ll let us release our actual filing from the protest,” Cuban added.

Cuban was also cited in his hefty fine for approaching the NBA referees and walking on the court while the game was still happening.

“Immediately after the game ended, Mr. Cuban walked onto the court and approached game officials shaking his head and directing comments toward them. This marked the second time he walked onto the court to challenge a call during the game.

“The NBA further determined that Mr. Cuban's conduct toward game officials — along with his public criticism of NBA officiating, the officiating program, and individuals who work in the league's Referee Operations Department — violated NBA rules.”

The league also wagged their finger at the Mavs owner for not holding himself to a higher standard as an executive in relation to criticism aspects of the game.
