According to Dallas news sources, the Mavericks and the Suns will play a regular season game in Mexico City, Mexico this upcoming January as part of the NBA's efforts to garner more of an international audience. In the game, the Dallas will be the visiting team.

For over two decades, the NBA has taken part in the NBA Global Games in order to gain more international fans as well as promote basketball around the world. The Mavericks have taken part in a number of different international games, including the first NBA game to take place in Mexico, where the Mavs lost to the Rockets, 108-106.

Beyond this sole game, the NBA has made their intention to grab more international attention very well-known in recent years, ranging from Chinese New Year jerseys to international friendlies with overseas basketball clubs. In an interview with Portland Trail Blazers guard C.J. McCollum and The Players Tribune, NBA commissioner Adam Silver reasserted his international goal and even discussed playing the annual All-Star Weekend internationally.

The NBA is expected to release their full schedule for the upcoming 2016-17 season in late July or early August.
