If you can't beat them, try your hardest to become them?

This may be the approach the Dallas Mavericks are taking in their search for Western Conference supremacy. It has been announced that the Mavericks have acquired former Warriors Andrew Bogut and Harrison Barnes. Both key players in Golden States's recent success, Dallas hopes that the acquisitions can contribute to a winning culture.

Barnes had a solid season, averaging 11.7 points on 46.6% shooting, but disappointed in the finals, where his scoring output dropped to 9.3 points a game while shooting an abysmal 31% from three. It will be interesting to see how his play develops on a team where he can be a primary scorer rather than a corner shooter.

Bogut also brings a specialized skill set to the court. The defensive anchor for the Warriors, Bogut's presence was dearly missed after his knee injury in the Finals, where, despite Draymond Green's tough on ball defense, LeBron and the Cavs seemed to walk into the paint.

The Mavs have also made multiple smaller free agent signings: Seth Curry (brother of Steph), Gerald Green, and Jason Thompson.

Who knows, maybe coach Rick Carlisle will field a lineup of Curry, Thompson, Barnes, Green, and Bogut in the hopes of capturing some of that Warriors magic.
