Despite already having Yogi Ferrell and J.J. Barea running the plays for them, the Dallas Mavericks are being rumored to be interested in adding another playmaker to their lineup. News came out last week that the team has emerged as serious contenders in acquiring Jrue Holiday and Justin Holiday, but there have also been reports that they are contemplating on trading for another point guard should they fail to sign the New Orleans Pelicans floor general.

The Mavs are apparently discussing internally the possibility of trading for Ricky Rubio of the Minnesota Timberwolves, who has long been included in a lot of trade chatter since last year.

The 26-year-old's potential addition will give the Mavericks a proven starter who can bolster their rotation at the one spot. He is now a six-year league veteran who is an elite ball distributor and could thrive under Rick Carlisle‘s system. Rubio will also have the opportunity to play for a team with seasoned veterans, and will definitely learn a lot from Dirk Nowitzki, which will do wonders for him in the years to come.

Although it's still early days in the summer, it won't come as a surprise if the Mavs will ultimately deal for another point guard, as they plan to bounce back from their poor performance this year where they missed out on the playoffs. It's interesting to find out if a trade between them and the Wolves will come into fruition and who they will give up to secure the services of the Spanish international.
