The Dallas Mavericks just had the best playoff run this team has ever gone on since Dirk Nowitzki led them to a title some 11 years ago. It was an undeniably memorable season for Luka Doncic and the Mavs which, unfortunately, came to an end at the hands of the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night.

After what we saw from the Mavs this year, it's hard not to think that the future is bright for this Luka Doncic-led side, right? Well, Charles Barkley does not seem to think so. In the mind of the Hall of Famer, Dallas isn't going to be progressing this far in the playoffs next season:

“They're not gonna get better than Denver. The Lakers are gonna do something. They're not gonna be better than the Warriors… My favorite next year is gonna be the Clippers,” Barkley said, via ClutchPoints on Twitter.

That's a bit premature, wouldn't you say? The Mavs have literally just seen their season come to its bitter end and they probably haven't even started seriously planning out their roster moves for the summer. The dust has barely settled and already, Sir Charles has come out with a definitive statement about the Mavs' fate next season. Talk about jumping the gun, Chuck.
