The Dallas Mavericks seem interested in potentially absorbing the contract of forward Chandler Parsons, but not enough to give up their leading scorer in Harrison Barnes, according to Mike Fisher of 247 Sports.

The Mavericks reportedly “would look at taking on money in exchange for a top-10 pick,” which could reunite owner Mark Cuban with his old friend Parsons, after the two had a short fallout as the Mavs refused to give him the max money he demanded.

The 29-year-old forward out of Florida has two years left in his four-year, $94.4-million contract, still owed $24.1 million during the 2018-19 season and $25.1 million the next.

This could be largely seen as the Mavs paying a hefty $24 million for the No. 4 selection, but ultimately able to get back-to-back selections in the lottery.

The Grizzlies are trying to unload Parsons' contract at all costs, having proven as close to useless since signing him to a fat deal, hoping he'd recover from his injury in time.

But Memphis has been greatly disappointed, as Parsons has struggled to keep healthy and hasn't produced anything remotely like the player they thought they signed, making more Instagram appearances than ones on the court (42 starts on 70 appearances in two years).

There is hope that the familiarity in a reunion with Cuban could yield something out of the overpaid forward in a potential reunion, but the Mavs are not looking to give up their very best asset to make this trade happen, no matter how badly they'd like to have that No. 4 pick.
