The Dallas Mavericks are promoting G-League standout Jameel Warney to the main team as they’ve signed the young forward to a 10-day contract, according to Reuters.

Warney, 24, has played for the Mavericks' G-League affiliate, the Texas Legends, the past two seasons after going undrafted in 2016. Warney has appeared in 84 games for the Legends, 69 of which as a starter, and has averaged 18.5 points and 8.8 rebounds in 32.1 minutes per game. He was named to the Midseason All-NBA G-League team this season.

Prior to his stint at the G-League, Warney had a decorated four-year college career at Stony Brook. He was the school’s all-time leader in wins, as well as points, rebounds, blocks, and games played. He also led the Seawolves to their first NCAA Tournament berth in 2016. However, he was not selected during that year’s draft due to concerns about his size and skill set at the next level.

Warney represented the U.S. in the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup and earned the tournament’s MVP award on the Americans’ gold medal-winning team. He was also part of the U.S. teams which scored a couple of FIBA World Cup Qualifying wins in November.

The Mavs will play five games during Warney’s 10-day contract. They face the Houston Rockets at home on Sunday, and then play four road games in a row on the road against the Knicks, Raptors, Nets, and Pelicans.

Warney will look to squeeze in some playing time in a suddenly crowded Mavs frontcourt which features Dirk Nowitzki, Dwight Powell, Maxi Kleber, Salah Mejri, as well as the returning Nerlens Noel.
