The Dallas Mavericks are ready to let their newly acquired Unicorn loose. Kristaps Porzingis said during the Mavs-Spurs game on Tuesday night that he will be having his first full five-on-five practice without any restrictions.

Watch KP make the announcement during an interview, courtesy of Nick Angstadt of Mavs Moneyball:

“Today, I played three-on-three. Tomorrow is going to be my first five-on-five practice, full on, without any restrictions at all.”

This is a significant development in Porzingis' rehab process as he recovers from a torn ACL. This is also fantastic news for Mavs fans who cannot wait to see the pairing of Porzingis and rookie phenom Luka Doncic.

However, fans will still have to wait until the start of the 2019-20 season. Despite the big news from Porzingis, he will sit out the remainder of this season as planned.

In January, Porzingis left his meeting with the Knicks with the impression he wanted to be traded. Hours later, they dealt their young franchise star to the Mavs in a deal many perceived to be a cap-clearing move.

Now, Dallas has one of the most exciting young duos in the league in Porzingis and Doncic. Prior to his injury, the former fourth overall pick in the 2015 draft had been one of the most promising young players in the league. But the devastating injury put a halt to his rapid ascension into superstardom.

This will be a long process of rehab, and hopefully the big man doesn't suffer any setbacks. Nonetheless, it's a great sign to see that Dallas will fully unleash Kristaps Porzingis without any limits, even if it's just in practice.
