DeAndre Jordan has practically confirmed earlier reports that a verbal agreement between himself and the Dallas Mavericks is already in place, after sending out a not-so-cryptic Tweet just hours prior to the official opening of the free agency window.

Jordan's tweet contained an emoji of a cowboy, which is presumably a reference to Texas. The state arguably possesses the most prevalent cowboy culture in the U.S.

The unrestricted free agent has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the Mavs worth $24.1 million.

This is absolutely great news for the franchise and the entire city of Dallas, as they now have a formidable big man that can fill the gaping hole they have in the middle. This comes on the heels of their successful coup of third overall pick Luka Doncic in the recently concluded NBA Draft.

Team owner Mark Cuban and the Mavericks front office have definitely been busy this offseason, and their hard work has bore fruit thus far. This gives the city a lot to cheer about, after several consecutive sub-par seasons following their one and only NBA championship in the Dirk Nowitzki-lead 2010-11 season.

The signing of Jordan also officially buries the hatchet between the Mavs and the 29-year-old four years after one of the most peculiar turn of events in NBA free agency history. In case you missed it, Jordan was in this exact same position four years ago, only to end up backing out on the deal at the last minute. After allegedly being held hostage by his L.A. Clippers teammates, Jordan decided to retract his commitment to Dallas in favor of staying in Los Angeles.

Let's just hope that he keeps his word this time around.
