The future is certainly bright for the Dallas Mavericks organization, especially with Rookie of the Year-turned-blossoming superstar Luka Doncic leading the charge for the Mavs.

The young Mavs squad displayed just how good they can be on Sunday, when they defeated the Western Conference-leading Los Angeles Lakers and snapped their 10-game winning streak in the process.

Among those who believe that the Texas-based squad's future is in the right hands is the recently retired Dirk Nowitzki, who bared his excitement for his old team courtesy of Mark Medina of USA Today.

“We’re going to be set up to be good for a long, long time,” Nowitzki said. “I see that with Luka and KP and hopefully we keep adding to that team. Hopefully they’ll be a fun team to watch for a long, long time.”

Getting the blessing of the franchise's best player seems to be a step in the right direction for coach Rick Carlisle's team, who are looking to make it back to the postseason since their last appearance that resulted to a first round exit in 2016.

With the way Doncic has blossomed into a bonafide superstar in just his second year, it seems that Dallas will be back to to contending in no time if they can add the right pieces to complement their young star.

Forming a one-two punch with one-time All-Star Kristaps Porzingis is a good start, as the pair is starting become more attuned with one another's play style with each passing game.

Porzingis still looks like he's still finding his rhythm after missing all of last season but he's still been pretty good for the Mavs so far. Dirk Nowitzki could tell you as much.
