Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki recently revealed that he would be returning for his 21st season in the NBA. Despite having acquired loads of accolades over the course of his career, the Mavs superstar says there is still one feat that he would like to accomplish: winning the Slam Dunk Contest.

That's right. Nowitzki — the perfecter of the one-legged fall-away jumper — wants to win the Slam Dunk Contest. While it's obvious that he was not serious, the 13-time All-Star said as much in an interview with ESPN's Tim MacMahon.

Nowitzki, now 40 years of age, may have seen his game suffer a natural decline, but his sense of humor seems to be at its prime.

In 77 appearances with the Mavs last season, Nowitzki racked up averages of 12.0 points on 45.6 percent shooting from the field (40.9 percent from beyond the arc), 5.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 24.7 minutes per outing.

At the end of the 2017–18 season, Nowitzki ranked sixth on the NBA's all-time scoring list with 31,187 career points. Furthermore, he's the highest-scoring foreign-born player in league history. Needless to say, this is a guy who can light it up.

While he won't be selected to participate in this season's Slam Dunk Contest, Nowitzki has still managed to rack up several impressive dunks over the years.
