Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki has passed NBA Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain for sixth place on the NBA's all-time scoring list.

Chamberlain scored 31,419 points during his legendary career. Nowitzki entered Monday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans with 31,416 career points.

Dirk was able to accomplish the feat at home in front of the Mavs faithful.

This is a tremendous accomplishment for Dirk Nowitzki, who has added another piece to his Hall of Fame résumé.

Nowitzki has had an NBA career that kids can only dream of. He's a 14-time All-Star, NBA champion, and regular season and Finals MVP.

For someone born in Germany, that's incredible considering all the obstacles Dirk had to overcome to get to this point.

Dirk Nowitzki changed the NBA, literally. All the stretch forwards you see shooting 3-pointers in today's NBA is because of Dirk. He was the first big man to shoot at a high clip from beyond the arc. His ability to stretch the floor and bring his defender out to the perimeter created driving lanes for the guards he played with.

To put it simply, he revolutionized the way team's run their offense.

The most points Dirk has averaged in a season is 26.6. That came during the 2005-06 season. Hopefully this isn't Nowitzki last season with the Mavs.
