Dallas Mavs icon Dirk Nowitzki might go down as one of the most loyal teammates in the game, but his sense of humor knows no mercy, recently darting a savage shot to his former teammates and soon-t0-be Hall of Fame point guards Steve Nash and Jason Kidd.

The German international took to Twitter to acknowledge their induction to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday, but cut them no slack when it comes to recognition.

Buuuuuuuurn!

That has to sting, but Dirk Nowitzki isn't wrong here, as Steve Nash had his best years when he left the Mavericks. In the offseason of 2004, Nash was willing to return to the Mavs, but owner Mark Cuban was already paying the likes of Michael Finley, Antoine Walker, Antawn Jamison, and was hoping he could base the team around the younger Nowitzki, as Nash turned 30 years old.

That decision brought Nash back to the Phoenix Suns, the team that originally drafted him with the 15th overall pick in the star-studded 1996 NBA Draft, which set him up for back-to-back MVP awards after bringing a 29-53 team into a 62-win team.

Jason Kidd saw his best days as a dazzling fast break dynamo with the Suns and the New Jersey Nets. While the Bay Area native was drafted with the No. 2 overall pick by Dallas in 1994, he only showed glimpses of brilliance throughout his first three seasons with the Mavs, only fully flourishing as he moved on with Phoenix, unlocking his real potential.

By the time the Mavs got Kidd back, he was midway through his 14th season in the league, still possessing the vision, but no longer the athleticism to blur past defenders in the fast break.

Sad, but true. Sorry Dirk.
