Barely two weeks into his retirement and Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki is already receiving honorary recognition left and right. However, one such honor that certainly stands out is that of the Basketball Hall of Fame displaying his jersey from the last game of his career together with other priceless basketball memorabilia.

Nowitzki’s final game of his storied career historically took place on April 10 — just a little more than a week ago. The Mavs faced off against the San Antonio Spurs, and Dirk made sure it was going to be a memorable swansong, as the 40-year-old logged a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double along with two three-pointers, an assist, and a steal in 31 minutes of action.

The Mavs were already out of playoff contention long before the matchup against the Spurs, so in truth, it was a non-bearing game for Dallas. Nevertheless, this game still held a lot of meaning for not only the entire organization and its fanbase but for the whole basketball world as well, as this happened to be the final time we would all see the legendary Dirk Nowitzki take the court.

It is only a matter of time before Nowitzki is inducted to the Hall of Fame, and surely, the Mavs will also be hanging up his No. 41 jersey in the rafters sooner rather than later.

Dirk is a one-time NBA champion, a season MVP winner, and a 14-time All-Star, to name a few of his accomplishments. He boasts career averages of 20.7 points (on 47.1 percent shooting), 1.3 three-pointers, 7.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.8 blocks in 21 years with the Mavs.
