During a local youth camp in Dallas, Mavericks forward Dorian Finney-Smith admitted he felt young playing alongside Mavs legend Dirk Nowitzki:

Didn't all players feel this way when they saw Dirk last season? Perhaps with the exception of the immortal Vince Carter, of course, who is about to enter a record-setting 22nd NBA season in 2019-20. Nowitzki, on the other hand, decided to call it a career after spending 21 seasons with Dallas.

Nowitzki made his NBA debut as a 20-year-old international prospect in 1998, when the 1993-born Finney-Smith was just five years old.

Fast-forward to 2019, and Finney-Smith isn't particularly a young guy anymore. He turned 26 in May and is about to enter his fourth NBA season. So, you can just imagine what someone like Mavs rising star Luka Doncic, who started off at 19 years old last season, must have felt.

Finney-Smith had a healthy 81-game campaign last season after playing just 21 contests in the 2017-18 season. He was a key component off the Mavs' bench in 2018-19, averaging 7.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists across 24.5 minutes per game.

Dallas signed Finney-Smith to a three-year, $12 million deal this summer. This deal is a bargain for the Mavs, as Finney-Smith can still blossom and develop his game in the near future.

Dallas likes what he can bring on defense, with his great athleticism, motor, and lengthy 7-foot wingspan. The Florida standout can potentially find his niche as a solid 3-and-D forward, though he still has to work on the 3-point shooting aspect of his game given he is just a 30.3 percent shooter for his career.
