Dallas Mavericks big man Dwight Powell looks to be staying in Dallas for the 2019 season and beyond.

According to Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News, Powell plans to opt-in to the final year and $10.2 million on his contract.

Every year being in Dallas, Powell has seen increases in points, assists, and blocks. Last season Powell finished with 10.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. In five seasons with the Mavericks, Powell is averaging 7.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 0.9 assists.

Recently, Powell spoke very highly of the Dallas Mavericks and remained confident in returning to the team.

“There's no place I would rather be than Dallas,” Powell told the Dallas Morning News on Tuesday. “I think I have done everything to show that I love it here. This team gave me my shot. They've treated me extremely well, as an athlete and as a man. I love the Dallas Mavericks.”

Powell's supposed return to the Mavericks will keep the team with a backup talent to go behind Kristaps Porzingis, or even the possibility to play alongside Porzingis with the retirement of Hall of Fame power forward Dirk Nowitzki.

Powell has until June 29 to make the opt-in official.
