Mavs big man Dwight Powell will decline his player option for the 2019-20 season to enter unrestricted free agency this summer, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Powell was scheduled to make $10,259,375 next season. He signed a four-year, $37.3 million deal with the Mavs in the summer of 2016.

Dallas Mavericks forward Dwight Powell will decline his player option for the 2019-20 season to enter unrestricted free-agency this summer, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

He is expected to have multiple suitors when the free-agent process begins July 1, sources said.

Powell played in 77 games this season for the Mavs. He averaged 10.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest while shooting 59.7 percent from the field, 30.7 percent from beyond the arc and 77.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The Mavs were 31-46 in 2018-19 when Powell was in the lineup. He recorded six double-doubles and scored a season-high 26 points in March against the Washington Wizards.

The Mavs will be getting Kristaps Porzingis back next season. Dallas acquired Porzingis at the trade deadline from the New York Knicks. He didn't play this season, as KP was still recovering from the ACL tear he suffered in 2017-18.

Powell began his NBA career with the Boston Celtics. He has career averages of 7.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in 331 games with Boston and the Mavs.
