For over much of the season half of his career, Dirk Nowitzki has been willing taking less than his worth in new deals with the Dallas Mavericks.

All of this has led to one Mavericks fan to take it upon him to show his gratitude toward the 39-year-old with a personal letter with a unique gesture attached.

This simple act of kindness shows the tremendous amount of respect the fan base has toward Nowitzki for his continued devotion and loyalty to the Mavericks. His actions have been a rarity in today's NBA where it would be expected for a player of his caliber to voice frustration or trade demand due to the Mavericks' struggles in the last several seasons since winning an NBA title.

Instead, Nowitzki has remained a fixture with the team and has shown the utmost loyalty to the organization as he signed a two-year, $10 million deal, which is well below a contract that he could have signed in the offseason. His unwavering commitment to the franchise to stick it through these rebuilding process is a testament to the type person he is on and off the court.

There are likely many more gestures like this to come Nowitzki's way in what could be his final season.
