Dallas Mavericks rookie sensation Luka Doncic has been so impressive so far this season that he has been able to compel dignitaries to watch him in action live. This was exactly the case on Saturday when former Slovenian Prime Minister Lojze Peterie came to witness the Mavs youngster's amazing performance first-hand.

Fortunately for the former head-of-state, Doncic did not disappoint on the evening. The 19-year-old put on a show in a 111-98 win against the struggling Cleveland Cavaliers. The 6-foot-7 forward dropped a career-high 35 points on 13-of-25 shooting along with four three-pointers, 11 rebounds, six assists, a steal, and just two turnovers, as he led his side to an away victory in front of Peterie.

The former Prime Minister definitely picked a good night to see his compatriot in action, and this will surely be a night to remember for him as well.

Despite the clamor, Doncic recently missed out on being selected as a member of the All-Star team. He was one of the most notable snubs this year, and his season averages of 20.7 points (on 43.5 percent shooting), 2.4 three-pointers, 7.0 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 1.1 steals per contest definitely helps his case.

Doncic, however, still remains to be the heavy favorite to bag this season's Rookie of the Year award. Last summer's first overall pick, Phoenix Suns big man Deandre Ayton, is a distant second in what is turning out to be a one-horse race. This is not to take away anything from Ayton, who himself is having a remarkable debut season. It's just that Doncic is on another level, and has proven that he is truly a once-in-a-generation type of talent.
