One of the most highly touted rookies in the 2018 NBA Draft class has got to be Luka Dončić of the Dallas Mavericks. This is mainly because he is the youngest player ever to win the Euroleague MVP award en route to leading Real Madrid to its tenth Euroleague championship.
Many current NBA stars have given high amounts of praise to the young rookie, most notably, Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Recently, Antetokounmpo sat down with MARCA for an interview. In this interview, he shed some light on his thoughts on the young rookie while giving some high amounts of praise to him.
“He (Dončić) is the most exciting player that has appeared in basketball in recent years.”
Antetokounmpo also believes that the young rookie will be able to make an immediate impact in the NBA.
“Immediately, I'm sure. This past year in Europe has won every competition he has played, Eurobasket, Euroleague, Liga Endesa; he has been MVP of the Euroleague, of the Final Four … He has shown that he is more than ready to play, that he has matured faster than the rest, he has played against professionals, as Charles Barkley said. The other rookies played against schoolboys. People in the United States sometimes forget that in the Euroleague they play very well and very hard, more than in the NCAA.”
It is clear that Dončić's potential in the NBA is quite high as shown in Antetokounmpo's thoughts on him. Mavericks fans are surely in for a treat as they will get to see the young rookie in action in the 2018-19 season.
