Friday morning, it was reported that Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd is the latest NBA coach to enter the league's health and safety protocols after testing positive for COVID-19. The Mavs will be without Kidd for Friday's game vs. the Houston Rockets. Beyond that, Kidd's status is uncertain.

Kidd is the 13th NBA head coach to test positive thus far. After the news of the positive test, Kidd spoke with the media, sharing his thoughts on and detailing how he has been feeling.

According to Dallas Morning News reporter Brad Townsend, Kidd confirmed the positive result.

Kidd said that he felt fine, that he feels like he has a cold. He apparently learned of the positive test Thursday night. He went on to say that he thought it was only a matter of time before we all catch COVID. He is unsure how and when he will return to the team.

In place of Jason Kidd, Mavs assistant coach Sean Sweeney will coach the team Friday against the Rockets. It is possible that no team in the NBA has been impacted by COVID-19 as much as the Mavs.

Kristaps Porzingis was the latest player to enter the league's health and safety protocols. The Dallas Mavericks have had a total of 24 players on their roster, with all of the cases on the team throughout the season.

Despite all of the team's COVID issues, the Mavs are still 20-18. That places them 5th in the Western Conference. That is an important position to hold, as the top six do not need to appear in the play-in tournament.
