The Ringer released a new song called “Halleluka” that is an ode to the Dallas Mavericks first-round draft pick, Luka Doncic, and it's a parody of the famous Leonard Cohen song, “Hallelujah.”

To be honest, I'm usually not a huge fan of parody songs, but this one about the Mavs rookie actually makes me chuckle.

The lyrics touch on a number of important points for those of us who were very high on Luka Doncic coming into the draft. The Sacramento Kings passed on the Slovenian wonderboy in favor of Marvin Bagley III. Bagley looks like he's going to have a long and prosperous career, but Doncic is already the best player on the Mavs and it doesn't appear to be much of a debate.

Many of Doncic's critics were skeptical due to his experience overseas. The lyric, “His game was strong, but we needed proof, we hadn't seen him play Mizzou,” is a near perfect lyric. Doncic was the youngest EuroLeague MVP in history, but many questioned his prospects in the NBA because he didn't play college basketball. It was an utterly ridiculous notion at the time and looks even worse now.

Doncic is in the driver's seat to win Rookie of the Year. Deandre Ayton, the first overall pick who went to the Phoenix Suns, has a strong case as well. However, Doncic's all-around game is more polished and he plays for a much better team.

It didn't take long for Doncic supporters to have the ammunition needed to go after the haters. If you are on the right side of history, pop on “Halleluka” and a Doncic highlight video and enjoy.
