The Dallas Mavericks are in the midst of a New Year's Eve tilt with the Sacramento Kings, but their rotation is severely depleted. Luka Doncic, Tim Hardaway, Boban Marjanovic, Maxi Kleber, and others are all either sidelined due to COVID-19 or injuries. Amid their problems, Mavs head coach Jason Kidd sent a rather hilarious message in his pre-game presser.

Via ESPN's Tim MacMahon:

Actually, though. Kidd was once an elite point guard, I'm sure he could still suit up and get buckets. After all, he's not that old. The Mavs have struggled to find chemistry and stay healthy this season, currently sitting at 16-18 on the season which has them in eighth place in the Western Conference.

Luka hasn't played since December 10th after suffering an ankle injury then also landing in the league's health and safety protocols last week. Without their franchise star on the floor, it's been hard for Dallas to find a rhythm and win games.

The Mavs are 4-6 in their last 10 games and they actually just signed Isaiah Thomas to a 10-day deal after his short stint with the Lakers. Unfortunately, he was placed in COVID-19 protocols on Thursday as well. Kidd's squad is dealing with a full-blown outbreak but I suppose it's positive they were able to suit up on Friday instead of postponing.
