Dallas Mavericks veteran point guard JJ Barea chimed in on the Kristaps Porzingis and Luka Doncic tandem by calling it a ‘great combination.' In an interview with Dwain Price of mavs.com, Barea shared his thoughts on their two young stars, Porzingis and Doncic. To recall, Porzingis was traded to the Mavericks in January. However, since he was still recovering from an injury, Porzingis sat out for the rest of the year. But in the upcoming 2019-2020 season, he's ready to suit up and share the floor with Doncic. Barea likes the impending team up and expects them to play together well.

“I like it. They’re both competitors with a lot of talent, and they’re young. And I know KP is itching (to play). He wants to get back on the floor. With him on the floor it’s going to help Luka out and give Luka a little bit more freedom where he doesn’t have to try to have the ball and try to do it all. So I think it’s a great combination and I think they’re going to enjoy playing with each other.”

When the trade went down, Mavs fans, as well as the rest of the NBA, were pumped about the new superstar tandem in Dallas. Here you have two of the best young stars in the league: Doncic — a basketball phenom who has shown signs of greatness in his first year and he's nowhere near his prime. And Porzingis, a 7-foot-3 center who possesses the shooting stroke of Dirk Nowitzki but is much more mobile and athletic. Who knows what sort of damage can these guys do when they go full throttle?
