The Dallas Mavericks made some minor tweaks to their roster this offseason. The team added guard Delon Wright and center Boban Marjanovic, surrounding the core of Kristaps Porzingis and Luka Doncic with a little more depth. Veteran Mavericks guard JJ Barea is excited about the newest additions and had plenty of positives to say on both.

Regarding Wright, Barea praised his defensive ability and athleticism:

“He’s a good player. I like bringing him here. The way he plays defensively, he’s athletic and can score at that position. It’s something we needed and I think it’s a great pickup for us.”

Barea then stressed the importance of adding Marjanovic, someone with high basketball IQ to come off the bench for the Mavs:

“I’ve heard really good things about him as a teammate and as a person. And he’s smart, especially coming off the bench for us. I don’t think we’re going to play him a lot (of minutes), but we’re going to play him, and when he’s out there, he’s going to help a lot.”

Both additions should make a positive impact for Dallas next season. Wright will help shore up Doncic's defensive shortcomings. Marjanovic will probably receive plenty of important minutes, as Porzingis is still working his way back from injury.

Barea has good reason to be excited by these signings, and the Mavs could surprise some people in the West and perhaps even make a playoff run.
